Also Gaile all but confirmed her identity in a chat where she said "Gwen's clothes look mesmery".

Heres what I think happened. The Searing starts fireballs falling, echos of Charr noises raging throught Ascalon. (Probably over exagerating but you get the picture.) Gwen tries to run away but she knwos if the Charr are invading then theres nothing that can stop them from finding her in any of the towns they're plundering. So she runs to the one place where no one will ever think to look (dropping her flute on the way). The Catacombs.

After wandering and roaming, there she meets Asura's who also live underground. They protect and raise her so she has absolutly no contact with humans. (Kinda guessing since she (if it's her) looks so nervous and shy in the pic in PC Gamer.) So she's chilling with the Asura's in the Catacombs popping up from underground and losing her stuff.

When she came up from the catacombs in Stingray Strand (or nearby) for whatever reason her cape finally falls off. (tattered girls cape) Deeply saddened by the loss she cries and goes to wash her face in the water.

Then wouldn't you know out pops some Corsair pirates there to rob the girl. gwen having had no contact with humans for so long but also not being stupid decides to give the last thing that she has to remeber of Ascalon. Her preserved red iris flower... The corsair want more but then they're jumped by the Asura who after the scaring away of the Corsair scold Gwen for roaming off on her own and down to the tunnels/dungeouns they go.

Crazy yes..very crazy. I don't even believe any of it myself but I wanted to cntribute SOMETHING.

Please delete if people start flaming me or become scared of me. Please?
I love your theory

When the searing starts, dodging the meteors she looses her flute which breaks. She makes for the catacombs but as we know the catacombs appear to have collapsed during the searing so she wouldn't be chased by the charr but rather trapped down there. I don't think she would be quite able as a small child to navigate the catacombs of tryia. But we don't know he any of the other citizen of ashford were with her. Anyway I doubt she would find her way to elona. But since the searing did cause some major earthquakes it could have raised the curiosity of the asura, possibly thinking the great destroyer had started his terror.

She might have been found by the asura. So the asura take her with them to learn of the surface world and begin to travel back to their home, on the way Gwen looses her cape around the jungle region. . She just might have grown up with them . Now as for the flowers. Assuming she lived with the asura, she was of course fond of flowers and it was all she had left of her home so possibly the asura help her preserve it or since her mother was a herbalist preserving flowers and roots would be common knowledge to Gwen.

While living with the Asura below the tarnished coast its possible she comes up for some sun every now and then. So she might have lost one her flowers while on the surface. And the corsair who are known for hiding near the most dangerous coastlines possibly tried to set up a base on the tarnished coast. Where they find the flower and considering it unusual in such an inhospitable place consider it of some value and it makes its way back to elona.

Thats a big stretch of the imagination but should account for all occurrences thus far.
ZOMG

That's a good theory.
I think you maybe right...

I think we can rule out the Rt and A professions, because she has left no clue of hers in Cantha. Because she is Tyrian I believe it is most unlikely she turns out to be a D or a P. So we got 4/6 covered. I'd love to see Gwen as N

Or we could look at it this way.

In pre searing she healed you with her flute (therefore shes not really a Monk)
She talked about wanting to be a Warrior (So thats a hint)
But she preffered the Mesmer clothing (So yet again another hint)
The Beta was a joke way to end it (So dont base her Beta self on her story self)

looks like 2/6.

I strongly suspect her to be a Mesmer. And i still think she is a storyline Hero and the Tapestry Shread is some Unique Armor. Whatever the cause i think we can safely say her story is going to be an interesting one

heyhey! about this whole "what's her prof thing"... I think that it's pretty likely that gwen is a mesmer, because... mesmers have teh /flute emote!!!1!1 naw but, mesmers' /dance, river dance, right? which is irish, aaaaaand in irish folkmusic, les "whistles" are obv. common (I had a hunch so I looked it up) whistle, flute, blaha..

Voila! whatya think? (::

I think that Gwen should be a Mesmer.. because out of all the core professions, Mesmer is the only profession that doesn't have a main character that is based on the profession. (Eve - Necromancer, Devona - Warrior, Aidan - Ranger, Cynn - Elementalist, Mhenlo - Monk) Also, Mesmer is the only core profession that only has one hero. Every other core profession has two. It can really balance things out..!

Can't you understand a little bit of what your read?
No, the meaning of that which was said became lost in the horrid grammatical blunders (that your wrote)
------

I think Gwen will probably have no profession, that whole spontaneous combustion thing in BETA. Perhaps that was a glimpse of "The Great Destroyer", If Eye of the North supposedly takes place 100 or more years after Prophecies, and Gwen still looks like she's in her 20's, then perhaps she's not even a normal mortal. Maybe she was placed in Tyria just before the searing, and sometime between Prophecies and GW:EN she fount out her true calling and nature.

What happens when you give that many? I read that you only need around 2 Red Irises...

It's ridiculous to claim, that Gwen survived thanks to red iris flower... she clearly says that she wants them to give them as present to her mother. Second, "Gwen" in the mesmer armor with a sword in her hand, indicates a Me/W, which does match with her statement, she wants to be a warrior, but likes mesmer outfits. Next thing is, we ARE going to see Gwen in GW:EN, because there was a picture published in magazines with the blessing of Anet, saying that we met the person in pre-searing as a child. How many GIRLS did YOU regularly meet in pre-searing Ascalon??? Let me coun't....

I suggest people stop making thread with topics like this. Why doesn't everyone stick to one thread and discuss crap there??

I totally agree Moire. And B-M-D, you make me laugh.
If some bogus quest like that actually appeared, I could do it 5 times.

The thing I'm most looking forward to in GW:EN is finding out what happened to her

I think Gwen is the GW equivelant of the anti-christ, lol - she should be the main, ultimate end boss in GW 10 "The Ultimate Chapter" where shiro, the lich, varesh, abbadon, and all the ones to come are her minionious lap dogs that lick her bitch of the universe boots

Why do I make you laugh? You make me laugh, can't you read? I quoted it from someone else, who quoted it from another person.

If you'd do a quest like that 5 times, you probably don't have much of a life.

b-M-d, You simply don't understand, do you? You read my post and all that you saw was a bunch of writing mistakes. But you didn't understand what was more important. Eye of the North will not be 100 years or more after prophecies. It will be even less than 10 years after prophecies, probably 5 or 4. Gwen looks like she is 20 because she really is really around that age. You like many people before are mistaking GW2 with GWen.
BTW, I believe the verbal form "fount" doesn't exist so, the next time you point out someone's mistakes, make sure you are not making the same mistakes.

Not really about the flower but...

I think Gwen's Broken Flute, the item I still have after the searing will come in handy.

You can get a second Broken Flute, and I think it was for EN.

There are three btw Meritis: Broken Flute, Gwen's Broken Flute, and the normal "Flute".
And no, I would bet so much that it will have nothing to do with the primary storyline, though a nice quest for those who have one would be nice for the raving Gwen collectors like me. :d
